Many changes are happening to our sport facilities in the area.
Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre Expansion Project
In 2008, the City of Brantford announced an exciting new construction project - to revitalize and rebuild the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. Construction of Phase I is already underway and when complete will see a brand new gymnasium, parking lots and lobby space, new food services and a running track above a 1,000-seat, four-pad arena - all due for completion by March 2011. (Shown at right is a rendering of the front entrance.)
Phase II will then begin with the addition of an indoor 25-metre pool, a fitness training space, new Sports Hall of Recognition and improvements to the existing 65-metre pool. A more efficient four-pad arena, suitable for ice sports, recreational skating, competitions and tournaments will be installed. With this extension, the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre will be the region's premier sports and recreation facility and re-affirm Brantford's designation as the Tournament Capital of Ontario!
Also in the construction phase is the new twin pad sport complex which will be located just outside of Paris.
