Celebrate Ontario Open for Applications!
Celebrate Ontario is an annual program that helps new and existing festivals and events enhance their programs, activities and services. The program also supports bid and event hosting costs of major one-time events and festivals attracting out-of-province visitors through the Blockbuster category.
This support helps grow tourism in the province by making it easier for event organizers to offer new and improved experiences that will attract more tourists and increase visitor spending. All organizers of festivals and events are invited to apply. Full details, including what's eligible, how to apply, and when to apply are on the Ministry of Tourism and Culture's website. Click for more information.
The deadline for Celebrate Ontario Main Stage and Signature is November 15, 2011.
Grand River Country and Trails Take Flight
"Trails Take Flight" is a local tourism initiative to promote the Grand River's fantastic trails and bird viewing opportunities through a unique brochure and interactive website. It was funded in part by a grant from the Ontario Ministry of Health Promotion and partners included the Guelph Field Naturalists who undertook the trail and birding inventories, Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) who designed the brochure and website, as well as Grand River Country tourism partners from across the watershed.
"Trails Take Flight" has won three awards: a 2010 Ontario Tourism Award from the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership Corporation, a 2010 Marketing Canada Award from the Economic Developers Association of Canada and a provincial marketing award from the Economic Developers Council of Ontario.
