Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre Expansion Project

In 2008, the City of Brantford announced an exciting new construction project - to revitalize and rebuild the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre. Phase one is now fully operational and includes a beautiful new 4-pad arena complex, a three lane walking/jogging track, a goalie warm up ice surface, a full service restaurant/bar plus concession stand and a pro-shop.

Phase II is well under way with demolition of the Red & Blue rinks, the former lobby and entrances. Footings have now been poured and steel is being erected for the addition of a new 25m pool, new therapy pool, child minding area, ground floor fitness centre, dry-land training space, expanded Sports Hall of Recognition, and a wellness centre. These additions will all be connected to the new 4-pad facility. Improvements to the existing 65m pool will also be included in this phase, which is targeted for completion by the end of 2012. With this extension, the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre will be the region's premier sports and recreation facility and re-affirm Brantford's designation as the Tournament Capital of Ontario!

Brantford and District Civic Centre

The Brantford & District Civic Centre is home to the Brantford Blast senior A hockey league and the junior Brantford Golden Eagles. The Civic Centre features a 2,981 seat arena (shown at right), standing room for 750 people and an auditorium. It is also home to many of Brantford's most exciting special events, including an annual Home & Garden Show, trade shows, community events, concerts, banquets and other special functions.
