Tourism Brantford is excited to announce the winners of its “Write In To Win” contest held in July, which asked Brantford residents to describe the reasons they love Brantford in 100 words or less. The two winners of the contest were Brantford residents Jeanni Jackson and Gail Martens.

Jeanni wrote in her winning submission form, “Brantford is a city of which I am not born but rather chosen as a place to settle. The friendly people with a smile always allow me to walk through the streets freely, and I am never concerned for my safety. Wonderful walking and biking trails, a golf course with an amazing view and of course the River Grand are some of the pleasures I enjoy. All the amenities I require are available, yet this city with history and a promising future comforts me with a small-town feel.”

Gail wrote, “I see Brantford through my grandson’s eyes. He is five years old and was born on the day we moved to Brantford. On ‘Grandma Days’ we discover Brantford together. On warm sunny days, we love picnicking in Mohawk Park, ice cream at Dairy Queen, swimming at Earl Haig or Gretzky Centre, splash pads throughout the city, Brant Park, Walter Gretzky sightings, and eating hotdogs in Victoria Park. On rainy days, we love Kidtastic, McDonalds, the Galaxy Theatre, Walter Gretzky sightings and the Brantford Public Library. We look forward to new things to love as we continue on our journey.”

The contest was an idea generated by the Tourism Advisory Committee’s Communications Task Force to engage local community members, generate civic pride and ambassadorship and enhance the opportunities for referrals to local business.
